More Information about the Test and the H Pylori
The H Pylori test is used to detect the Helicobacter Pylori bacteria. This bacteria is a gram-negative, microaerophilic bacterium that can cause gastritis or stomach ulcers. It can be tested with serum, whole blood and feces and is available in the form of a cassette and a strip. Both the cassette and strip test kits are very reliable, being very easy to use, sensitive and specific, with results in under 10 minutes on average. The differences between these two test kits are minimal, with the cassette test kit simply being a more robust and user friendly model of the strip test kit, however, they both equally have a high level of accuracy.

The Disease
General Information
Helicobacter Pylori is a certain type of bacteria found usually in the stomach. This bacteria can cause gastritis or stomach ulcers which cause inflammation or breaking of the lining in the intestines. Symptoms of these include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, bloating, loss of appetite and heartburn. Helicobacter Pylori bacterium is also linked to 60% of people who have stomach cancer. The majority of people who are infected with H Pylori have no related symptoms.
Treatments
Helicobacter Pylori is a condition that relates to a number of disorders. Blood antibody testing is one way to detect this bacteria. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic used to treat a person who has been tested positive for H Pylori. Some mutations of this bacteria are antimicrobial-resistant; this means that usual antibiotics may not treat the disease and the patient would need higher doses or a change of medication.
