AFP Test Kit
Available as cassette and strip
AFP test are used for a rapid chromatographic ummunoassay for the detection of AFP (Alpha-Fetoprotein) in serum or plasma. AccuQuik™ AFP test strips work using immune colloidal gold technology and the double antibody sandwich method. If the serum or plasma specimen sample contains AFP, the reaction complex moves forward to the distinguishing area along the nitrocellulose membrane and therefore is captured by AFP-specific antibody on the membrane. Results are positive when a distinct red reaction line appears in the detecting aread. If the samples does not containd AFP or AFP levels are lovers than the minimum detectable quantity, no lines will appear on the device. AccuQuik™ promotes the use of AFP Test Strip.
The Disease
General Information
Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) is generated by the Alpha-fetoprotein gene. AFP is a single-chain glycoprotein with a molecular mass of 65 000 unified atomic mass. It is thought to transport polyunsaturated fatty acids to develop malignant cells, because of its high affinity to these substances. In the chromosomal location 4q25 is the human AFP gene. AFP is produced in a developing fetus’s liver which travels through the placenta into the mother’s blood. AFP production ends between and twelfth week of gestation.
Treatments
AccuQuik™ AFP test checks the risk of birth defects and genetic disorders. An AFP test is recommended if the pregnant woman is at least 35 years old, has diabetes or a family history of birth defects.
