More Information about the Blood Collection Tube
AccuQuik™ Blood Collection Tube
Blood collection tubes have high-quality additives that separate blood cells and blood plasma. These tubes are used in centrifuges to extract the serum from the blood sample. Sodium citrate tubes prevent the blood to change from a liquid to a gel. Glucose tubes are used to prevent the blood-cells to metabolize the glucose in the sample. They are made of PET or tempered glass and come in various sizes and volumes with a plain or stopper cap.
General Information
Blood collection tubes are used in the venipuncture procedure. When a doctor draws blood it is collected in tubes. Blood is drawn for diagnosis, measuring of blood components, removing of blood due to heightened levels of iron or red blood cells, or stored for transfusion. When testing for medical conditions the filled blood collection tubes are sent to a lab to be looked at through a microscope and to agitate the blood using chemicals to get results.
Test
There is a wide range of tests that can be administrated by using blood collection tubes. The basic metabolic panel measures elements in the blood to help to detect certain organ problems and diabetes. Hormone and amino acid percentages are used for personal health benefits. The blood count is a common test for blood cancers, diagnosing diseases and medical conditions, and to monitor treatments. The fibrinogen test can help predetermine the risk of heart disease and stroke. STDs can also be tested using blood collection tubes.
