Mycoplasma
Available as cassette
Mycoplasma Test Kit diagnostic test detects mycoplasma contamination in cell cultures by using a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology. The use of PCR technology amplifies the conserved 16S ribosomal RNA coding region within the Mycoplasma genome. The Mycoplasma test kit is highly sensitive with ability to detect as little as 2 to 5 femtograms of Mycoplasma DNA is as little as 100 µL of test sample. The test kit also includes a positive control to enable the validation of the PCR amplification process to confirm the size of the PCR product obtained in samples. Thus, the internal control could successfully eliminate potential false negatives linked with PCR inhibitors. AccuQuikTM Mycoplasma Test Kit can provide an extensive, highly extensive, quick and efficient detection method. AccuQuik™ promotes the use of Mycoplasma Test Kit.
The Disease
General Information
Mycoplasma is a genus of bacteria with a lack of cell wall around their cell membranes. Due to this characteristic, this genus of bacteria is naturally resistant to antibiotics that target cell wall synthesis. They are also the smallest bacterial cells yet discovered and could survive without oxygen. There are over 100 species of bacteria that has been included the genus Mycoplasma. Several species of this bacteria are pathogenic in humans, including the M. pneumoniae that causes pneumonia and other respiratory diseases and M. genitalium that is believed to cause pelvic inflammatory diseases. It is known that the detection of mycoplasma by direct culture procedure is time consuming and some mycoplasma species are hard to cultivate.
